The science behind reversal.
A medical treatment rooted in decades of metabolic research, refined through continuous clinical feedback from tens of thousands of members.
Why reversal is possible
For most of the 20th century, type 2 diabetes was treated as a progressive, irreversible disease. A growing body of evidence over the last 15 years shows a different story: for many people, sustained reductions in insulin resistance — achieved through targeted nutritional therapy and continuous clinical oversight — can restore glycemic control, reduce or eliminate the need for diabetes medication, and reverse many of the downstream conditions associated with metabolic dysfunction.
Reversal Health translates that evidence into a protocol that is safe, scalable, and measurable.
What we measure
- A1C — long-term blood glucose control
- Fasting glucose & insulin — insulin resistance
- Lipid panel — including triglyceride-to-HDL ratio and apoB
- Blood pressure — continuous at-home readings
- Body composition — weight, waist circumference, and optional body fat %
- Liver enzymes & inflammation — ALT, AST, hs-CRP
Safety monitoring
Members are contacted within hours of starting the protocol, and again within 72 hours, to adjust medications as needed. Continuous at-home data (glucose, BP, weight) is reviewed daily by the clinical team. We publish our adverse event profile alongside our outcomes.
Published research
- Long-term glycemic and weight outcomes (2-year and 5-year cohorts)
- Cardiovascular risk reduction, including lipid subfractions
- Real-world effectiveness across diverse populations
- Safety profile of supervised nutritional ketosis
- Cost-effectiveness analyses from actuarial partners
Open science
We believe medical treatments should be evaluated in the open. Our clinical team publishes regularly in peer-reviewed journals, shares de-identified datasets with qualified researchers, and pre-registers trials.
